A Petrol Head for Philosophy

Welcome to My Writing Garage

Jeremy Clarkson and his two chums love cars and can’t get enough of them. Top Gear, Grand Tour—fast machines, horsepower, torque, the roar of an engine. Jay Leno’s Garage is something to behold, and many people come and do just that.

Me? My cars don’t have machines—they have metaphors and literary components They don’t produce torque but talk. They aren’t measured in revs per minute, but in words and sentences.

Yet, in a way, they serve the same purpose.

I build vehicles of words—designed to transport ideas. Like a taxi or a bus, my writing stops to pick people up, inviting them along for the ride. Where to? That depends. Sometimes to history, sometimes to science, sometimes to philosophy in the broadest sense—the love of wisdom, the joy of thinking. My word vehicles, like the ones in Leno's Garage have different makes and models. I don't specialise in just one make and model.

A garage is where vehicles are built, serviced, rebuilt. And that’s what this blog is. A place where ideas get fine-tuned, polished, or sometimes left with their rough edges intact. When they’re ready, I hope they don’t just sit here gathering dust, but actually get out there—hailed by the curious, the thinkers, the seekers of wisdom, and those who simply enjoy a good ride.

So, if you've just dropped in by chance, welcome to my Writing Garage. Take a look around. I hope you find something here that takes you somewhere.
